“CareS – with Dignity” is a holistic initiative designed to uphold the inherent worth of three vulnerable groups: senior citizens, individuals with chronic illnesses, and caregivers supporting people with special needs. This project envisions a society where dignity is a fundamental human right and vulnerability is met with inclusion and respect.Dependence is often stigmatized due to prevailing societal perceptions, leading to feelings of guilt and vulnerability which negatively impacts their emotional well-being. Recognising that interdependence is a universal human condition, we believe every individual deserves dignity and respect regardless of their abilities or needs. We are committed to creating large-scale awareness to uphold this fundamental right. We can foster overall social wellness through supportive family systems and institutional care. According to the HelpAge report State of Elderly in India 2014, India’s elderly population is estimated at 143 million. Additionally there is a global need for 40 million caregivers to support individuals living with disabilities (dementia) (Alzheimer’s Disease International, 2018). This data justifies the urgent need for policy interventions, awareness-building, and grassroots initiatives led by both the state and not for profit organizations. To deal with the increasing demand for care and support, we hold the responsibility to create systems and promote mindsets that value, protect, and respect each person’s dignity. We aim to amplify this commitment by partnering with like-minded organizations and professionals to drive meaningful change.
When we faced a family emergency, Cares was there immediately with food, shelter assistance, and emotional support. They did not just help us survive - they helped us rebuild. This organization truly lives up to its name.
